Good day fellow bmw fans. I have a problem with my 2004 bmw e46 330d . Background of the car u mighy ask....
Ok..it has a hybrid turbo standard motor and intercooler. With software and exhaust modified and egr removed.
It pushes 243kw and 720nm on wheels. Last week when i drove i noticed that i dont have boost. Or it seemed that way at first. Until i realised the boost kicks in but much later. And not what im used to either. I checked pipes and vac lines for leaks but to no avail.i had a bud do diagnostics and permanent fault of boost temp sensor came up. Could this be my problem keeping in mind the symtoms? I would realy like to have my car back. Miss the torque. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated.

Had similar story on my 320d e46. Replaced all VAC lins except one as it looked ok and it turned out to be that one that boke. To get back I have searched alot and it could be MAF sensor, MAP sensor, wastegate or turbo. Thats my thinking of it.

Renew all vacuum lines (otherwise do vacuum delete mod). Check the vacuum canister to see if a hole has melted into it. The EGR removal... was the vacuum line to the EGR blocked off properly?

Thank you firstly for the replies. Egr was removed properly. But ill look into vacuum canister and vacuum lines. Hope its whats wrong. Also il look into the vac lines delete to see whether it helps. I have a idea that it cant be maf as i unplugged it and drove with the car and it smoked alot. And when i plugged back there was no smoke. I dont wqnt to change parts which does not need changing.

That's strong power there.............

Best if you go to some one that is knowledgeable on a diesel to get accurate diagnosis. Possibly they can switch out with known parts that are functioning before you start buying unnecessary parts.

I would love to hear more about your Hybrid turbo......

Try the simple things first. Remove and clean the intercooler and that sensor. On my car I blanked off all the vacuum lines situated under the intake manifold. I just left the vacuum line for the the turbo. While you have the intercooler out clean the radiator also from the outside. Do you have the stock exhaust manifold. Those tend to crack also which also gives boost problems. What is the millage on your car?
