Hey there,
The battery is fully charged, 3/4 full tank of fuel, the motor swings but no fire-up. No indications that anything was wrong until last night when I climbed in and tried to start the motor. I use it daily. Goes to Auto Atlantic for all its services. Never had any issues in 7 years until now.
Any hints tricks or tips from the experts out there please?

Cheers
Wayne

No expert but from my experience working at BMW the common fault is Cam/Crank sensors.

Give it a while, then if it starts go directly to BMW for Diagnostic.

Could be a range of other things though...:(

Right, so I run through all the normal diags:
Use spare key
Check the relays and fuses out although I have no idea which relay does what, there are only 4 of them, 3 light blue ones and an orange 1, no diagram or web site can show my exact version but I find A/C and hooter relays by process of elimination and guess orange one is for fog lights so last one must be for fuel pump, so swap this 1 with hooter one, horn still works thus relays ok
Battery holds charge and sits on 12.7v
Remove spark plugs to check for "flooding"
Still 3/4 tank of fuel
Run code scan to be told Fuel Relay - clear codes and get told no issues
So by now my hair is turning white, my back aches and I am looking for a lighter - to torch the car as I recall at last service 2 months ago they replaced the water pump - ah they screwed with the cam censors? No, no fault codes and visual check shows all ok
Finally I remove the fuel pump assembly from the tank
Run 12v directly to it and nada - flick it with my finger cause the hammer was elsewhere and what do you know. It spins up.
Re-insert it and touch wood it still buzzes. BMW Auric Auto quote 4.5k for a new one.
No way, there must be a more cost effective way? Surely?
Ideas experts?
