E46 325i vs 330i

Well I would say test drive both and decide for yourself whether you would be fine with the difference between the cars dynamically. If you are then I would say go for the 325i, good condition individuals are a rare find.

If not, I think this is how you will feel, can't talk out of experience with regards to the 325i but I have compared to an e46 328i, and I can say they are worlds apart, the 330i make is just feel "lazy". So in this case I would say wait for the right 330i to come along, you will not regret it :=):

Yea thanks guys - I think I've sort come to some sort of conclusion:

1) The 330i is most likely well worth waiting for
2) A good 325i will be a a fine choice, but only if say there is a very compelling factor, such as price or ridiculously good condition etc..

In any, judging by the responses, and what i know about myself, the 330i is the right car (and was my initial choice until this 325 came along) for me.

Unfortunately it's not only availability of suitable candidates preventing me from buying :( :(

I have both, a 325 and 330, but mine are auto. The cars are ver different and you will regret it.

Also, wht not reconsider an auto? The motor will not have been punished like a manual would have.

Auto box is out of the question. I'm not really going to go into detail to validate my choice, but let's just say I know myself and my preferences well enough to know what's right for me.

I'm also a die hard manual shifting fanatic & swore never to buy an auto, but all of that changed after driving an E46 330i auto :inlove: it is extremely refined & smooth to drive.

I drive a 325 and wont trade it for a 330. I have infact driven both, and the difference isn't that great. If you can get a 325 in a neat condition, take it, then chip it, decat it, and get a set of branches from Burgy and them, and you will NEVER be sad you bought it. :thumb:

Well, right now, no budget. I'm not really in a position to buy. This is an old thread which was part of formative research.

AdiS, buy yourself a 316i E36. Leave it stock standard. Then what you do is, every now and then you walk to the shop, and take the bus or a taxi to work. That way, whenever you get back into the 316, you mind now fast it drives, it will be better than walking or using public transport.
