Hi guys

I need some help. After getting a quote of R2K from SMG durban for inspection 1 service and replacing solenoid valve o-rings, I decided to tackle this job myself. All went well until I tried to change the oil filter. The damn plastic housing just wouldnt come off. I bent 2 "regular" oil filter wrenches:hammerhead: until I found out that there is a special tool to remove the oil filter cap on an n42 engine. Does anyone know where I could get this tool from? Have tried Midas already. No luck.

I've got some nice new oil in the sump with a drty filter in the head. Very irritating. :banghead:

I actually broke the handle off one of those while trying. Although my one had a much thinner handle. Will look for the thicker handled one this weekend. I cant believe a simple oil cap is giving me so much sh*t. Also, I dont want to damage the cap, It's like R 1200 from agents. :censored:

710 cap remover is what you need. Those Midas jobbies will do the trick. Just make sure you get a heavy duty one.

@ryanhouston_e46

if you live in JHB there is only one place where you can get the cap that fits on the oil filter here in strydom park, randburg @ the Tool Shop, it costs about R 380 and the guy there has all sorts of things but pricy.........
