Rick you are absolutely correct. That was my mistake in identifying it as an insert.Unfortunately I could not edit my previous post when I identified my error
We had all 14 holes done with helicoils and as you say they are SS on the advise of the guy who does them..He travels to garages and engineering shops to do inserts and that is his business. If anyone needs a travelling engineer to do inserts give me a call and I shall pass his details.

Here he is running the tap which is the standard size and then enlarges the threads with the second size for the inserts.

I have been meaning to update this for some time.

We took the car to recharge the aircon but could not as the electric pusher fan had given up the ghost.

We got an aftermarket one from SILVERTON Radiators and here is what we found.

A close up of what was collected behind the motor of the electric fan.

New fan installed.

Glad you fixed her up :joy:

Clean E39's are becoming extremely rare :praise:

As for the fuel filter not being changed by the agents, I had the same issue with my E39, first service outside motor plan at 119000kms, fuel filter was found to be the original from factory :thumbdo:

Overhauled my Entire cooling system last year as a precautionary measure
