Car looks neat, I think the price is reasonable.

I noticed the badge is higher than usual on the boot, maybe signs of a rear end collisioin?

Do your homework properly, very the milage and service history, if the car is really neat, it's well worth it

Not necessarily. Could just be a badge replacement.

Flash, the price is pretty normal for 2003 seeing as those were the last models of the E39. Also the km's are not too bad. But see if you can bring him down with an offer.

My car was advertised at 99k when first posted online. Two weeks later it came down to 89k which I got the dealer to bring down to 84k.

Looks very neat, but I'll never buy a black car. Had a dark blue one already and that was enough of a mission to keep clean.

Looks like a great buy - this one has the white lenses and blacked out chrome, which really sets it apart from earlier models - make an offer for a bit less and see what the dealer is willing to do!

After you buy it, drop the suspension a bit! :fencelook:

Price is too high, car was manufactured before 2003 (In SA the car model year is the year of first registration, and not the year of manufacture, which is idiotic.)

It also has the wrong size tyres for the wheels, and I bet many suspension parts need replacement, along with the torque converter...

According to the Vin it was manufactured in Oct '02, but 1st date of registration was in Jan/Feb '03 :fencelook:

What exactly do you mean by the tires are wrong for those wheels? :flyfun:
She had the original bmw 5series wheels but the dealer fitted the rims/tyres after the car was traded in :fencelook:

she is pretty can't deny but still 15 - 20% to high.

I say this not because I don't she's worth it, but when time comes to sell you may have to bear the cost of the price correction.

As ChefDJ pointed out neg. R 85 sounds more in line & with today's petrol price the bigger cars are a hard sell.

A vacuum leak he says..........:fencelook:
Does it idle rough upon startup and then becomes slightly better?
If so, walk away. No - Run!
These cars pop the headgasket fairly easy when it just so much as thought of overheating and to repair that is far from just replacing the headgasket. It usually means another engine or some seriously tricky engineering work

Starts and Idles no problems, no funny business or anything, but you can hear the vacuum leak when opening the hood :fencelook:

The tyres are severely stretched - that always makes me think that the owner did not have enough money to fit the correct size, and just bought smaller cheaper ones.

Also, these cars are usually always clocked when you buy it from a dealer. They just wear their miles so good, it is quite hard to tell. I would suggest to have the mileage checked on all the modules using DIS or INPA. If it is clocked, the CAS and the dash will have the altered miles, so look in the other modules.

true...

but I personally think that the E39's looks much beter in lighter colour shades

I have a silver one (NOT FOR SALE )...and I have seen white ones :inlove: and light blue ones and they have always attracted my attention above the very dark coloured ones.

I also agree that the tyres seem to small, the "air=space" in the wheel wells looks vast
