Hi

That job is a serious DIY - there is a company in Cape Town that will do it for you for R3k - you have to remove the cluster and send it to them.
I would suggest you thoroughly research bimmerforum and m5board before attempting.

Good luck:thumbs:

I have researched it quiet a lot and find it not to difficult to remove and open it up and get it back together and back in.
Just cant find anyone that has those ribbons.
Is the only way to get them to import them or are there any place to get them?

Yes, I have replaced them on the Golf 5's before with the actual led strips.
I like saving where I can and I believe I can do this one:=):

Let us know how it goes. The only reason I won't do it myself is because I dont really have very steady hands.

As it is etiquette to search old posts before asking an old question, I did just that. :clapper:

My '98 E39 540 has plenty dead pixels on both the dash and radio displays, and these NEED to be repaired. I am just like that.

So, to revive the age-old question, does anybody have something new to add, or recommend a reputable "pixel-repairer", that won't cost an arm and a half-leg?

Alternatively, what about obtaining a second-hand cluster from a scrap-yard and installing? Re-programming required, or plug-n-play?

Anybody have much success lately with DIY? Anybody got spare ribbons handy?
