I didn't even get to look at the price, rather looked at the images to try and see what everyone is "on" about, looks neat for a Pre-LCI to me

Okay so I'm trying to find a pic where that "bodykit" is featured. Also a bit confused by the "Individual / Limited" description.

As for the car....well :praise::praise: It looks very neat and makes me miss the 540i that I had for such a brief period even more:blueCry:

Pre facelift e39 540i/6 came fitted with this "aero kit" as standard. The e34 540i/6 were all Individual models, probably a bit of an error or creative advertising by the seller carrying this over to the e39. Due to the very limited numbers of these cars, not much information is available on them.

Ah yes, the REST button. It only worked when the engine was off and switched on the ventilation fan. The idea was that you could heat up the interior of the car using the residual engine heat. I only got to use it once. There are not very many times that you are sitting in a car on a cold day.

The button was only fitted on pre-facelift models. My first E39 (528i auto) had one. My current one (530i manual) doesn't have it. Another thing that disappeared was the utterly useless and ridiculously-easy-to-break rear cupholders.

My facelift 530d had the rest button. So did ChefDJ's iirc

My '02 E39 M5 has a "MAX" button there.

so does mine '01 E39 530d

There must have been a phasing out period then between 2000 and 2001. You'll probably find that you maybe have a later model 01. I'd imagine? Something similar... I know that the last 6 1991 E34 525i beemers came with a VANOS 2.5 flat 6 motor but the VANOS was only officially introduced in the next model in 1992.
