E36 steering rack options

The steering rack on my e36 328i is buggered and while I have a replacement waiting to be fitted, was wondering if a steering rack from another model which fits is quicker and more responsive than the standard one.

As of late I find steering on e36's and even e46's rather slow to react bar the M3's which I have yet to drive.

I find my e46s is too quick and overpowered. While my e90 is more solid.

The Z3 rack is a nice upgrade apparently

Is there a difference if so what is the difference

3 turns lock to lock vs 3.2 turns lock to lock. Std e36 is 3.5 turns lock to lock.

Are the rack ratio's the same on the 3.2/3.0, but just limited differently? Or are their ratio's actually different? And do we have this variable-offcentre-ratio story on either of them?

The ratio is the same on the 2.7turn z3 and 3.0lt m3, although the Z3 rack has limiter blocks inside to reduce the amount of turn to 2.7
