Maaannnn you got some stones on you for this one, I would have walked away.:praise: I am really shocked at the state people get cars in. I have been 4X4 hunting over the past few months and the stuff that is out there and the monies ppl want is terrible.

Well done on sorting out a fellow e36, I will be watching and taking notes. :bangdesk:

i know how you feel bro.. im in cape town and some of the okes here advertise cars that are in excellent condition. it took me 3 years to find my car. I have been looking at cars for Ash and Jeremy and I wouldn't touch some of these cars with a 10 foot pole.

its really sad.

call me pedantic but I wouldn't want someone buying a car that I wouldn't find myself dead in.

GIZMO - we need guys like you and Peter here in Cape Town

I think I just found a air filter that will work with a stock radiator. If it works then there is no need for the custom radiator. Its new on the market and all the other mushroom filters were too tall or they didn't have the 100mm inlet size.

Hi Gizmo,

Could I ask where you managed to source that filter from, as well as the diameter of the larger section of the cone. Perhaps a dimension of it overall.

My father is busy with a turbo setup, and we need something similar to what you got hold of to fit int the portion of the bumper that is available.

Shot, hope to see great progress on this thread.

thats a funny looking filter  cant you relocate the filter higher up in the engine bay? also less chance of sucking up water...

Got it from Turbo Toys today. 20cm diameter.
The savspeed manifold has the turbo almost up against the radiator, no space for a 90deg bend and tubing to the top.:yuck:

Wow. I'm impressed brother. I knew who'd get it going soon enough. Was at Santa pod this past weekend. To late to sign on but man some of the BMWs here will blow your mind.

hope to see pics of that beast on the road and out of the workshop soon. Take it easy man!

Im in the process of labelling all the wires of the new ecu. Labels everywhere!
Would have helped alot if Powermods actually gave you a wiring diagram with the unit, instead they expect you to trawl the internet to find them...

When I first picked up the Powermods ECU from Kobus I asked for the wiring diagram but he said it doesn't come with one, I thought it strange but he said I can download it from the website. I did so and wired it up but I made a mistake in the wiring up of the Pmods ECU, had the General Purpose Output 3 wired to the coil pack instead and burnt out the GPO modules on the ECU's board, fried a coil pack too. Turns out there are several different wiring diagrams on their site and I followed the wrong one...ECU is now fixed by Domingos and Boetie Budler gave me a replacement coil pack, Boetie says Kobus didn't give me the supplied wiring diagram so I would take the car and ECU to Kobus to fit, bit of a sly move but thats the business I guess. Anyway, you live and learn from your mistakes. Collecting ECU tomorrow and hopefully she will fire up.

Spot the difference, lol.

Found the error of my ways while going label crazy, at least the next guy to open this wiring harness box will be pleasantly surprised.

Big shout out to Boetie Budler from Budler Motorsport for the help/assistance. :ty:

Yeah as dirty as the engine bay, if not dirtier...We could be wrong though, perhaps Go-Tech/Domingos didn't supply him with one...Will never know. Kobus' dyno work is great apparently, will see in a week or two when the car goes to the dyno.

Update, the ECU is wired correctly this time, confirmed with Marius but the engine won't start, we have fuel and spark but no start. Boetie and I guess the base map was wiped off and not put back when the general purpose outputs were replaced. This has forced me to have the car towed to Kobus and have him charge us for install and tune, even though its installed correctly Kobus has to go over all connections to confirm they correct, lesson learned. Car goes in for tuning on Tuesday.
