Its awesome to hear that other people also feel this away about certain cars, It's strange that cars that we saw when we were in our childhood still have such a strong hold on us many years later, even though newer and much faster cars have come out since then!

Well I hope you still smile from ear to ear when you get her back, it has a fat turbo in it so im sure it won't dissappoint, if it does, then up the boost hahaha

Remember you can save the customer a couple of rand by using cable ties instead of bolts for the flex disc :fencelook:

I had a few minutes spare and read the entire thread from scratch.

Shoo, it's as if re-living everything for the first time_ from seeing the car for sale, seeing it come off the trailer here in JHB, my garage floor soaked in oil from all the leaks from the turbo, to eventually sending it to Gizmo.
Many people have asked why I went for this car in the 1st place and then proceeded to dump more than R120k further into the car?
Two reasons:
1st-- I used to have an M6 that I thought was quick and then Shorty took me for a spin in his turbo e30 (changed my concept of speed forever)
2nd-- and most importantly, an e36 M3 in Avus Blue, is my UNICORN car
My boet and I grew up from rather austere beginnings and our favorite pass time was dreaming of cars we would one day own. And for me the e36 M was the one I hankered for the most.
I actually remember seeing one for the first time:
- we were in a friend’s car wasting time driving around the Durban beachfront as teenagers usually do. We stopped at a traffic light heading towards Addington Hospital when this wail emanated from behind us. Our heads swiveled round as if on ball bearings and there she was. Idling with that special M "thrum" as the light stayed red. The driver was a cool ballie, we gave him a hoot and a thumb’s up, to which he proceeded to give it the beans when the light changed. And that was it, I was hooked!

Since then I have been extremely blessed to have owned some spectacular cars, among them-- C63, M6, Lexus IS F, Z4M, GTR R35 etc-- yet nothing gets my pulse racing as much as the anticipation of getting the car back from Warren.
She just embodies everything I yearn for in car. Actually she has transcended from just a car to an icon that represents where my life has taken me.

So even though she was in a ghastly condition when I got her and I have had to lay out a ton of cash to see here revived, I am still very much in love with my car.
I can’t wait for that first moment I see her again. That slight raked stance, the clean crisp lines. Sliding into those snug seats, gripping my new steering, twisting the ignition to fire her up for the first time.
Gizmo isn’t just sorting out a car or a piece of machinery; he is bringing my dream out of the depths of despair into reality. And for that I will be forever grateful.

I know exactly how you feel I had the same car and colour a few years ago and wrote it off in the rain  Anyways I learnt a dear lesson the hard way... All I can say is that I will own one again. E36 M3 :praise:

I have just finished rebuilding the engine wiring harness but it looks as though it was a waste of time as the car won't start due to no spark and the ignition module gets really hot, I guess its toast from the wiring short circuit.
Options are to fix the module and hope the ecu is ok, or to chuck the old system for something completely new.

Ok, it looks as though the customer wants to go with Dicktator and use Motronix for tuning, will go chat to Mo from Motronix tomorrow about a system.

After spending the morning driving around to tuners for chit chat, we are going for a brand new Go Tech Pro X system, will pick one up next week and install it. Tuning will be done by Kobus from Full Boost Performance.
