That's a real shocking site. Before you start getting heavily into it I would recommend a compression test and maybe a boroscope inspection inside the motor.

The workmanship looks pretty much what I would expect from most places in SA.

Great work so far sorting it out.

OMG my heart is sore, at the same time im happy to know thats its getting alot of love where its at now. Gotech does run vanos, savspeed uses it on both the e46 m3 and e36 m3 without locking vanos. Member born2boost has gotech with vanos on his e36 m3

I seem to recall the same (that Gotech can run vanos)

May look at VAC vanos delete kit, pending. CT guy said it doesn't run vanos.

Here it was in the cars for sale section some time ago: http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=15020&pid=139293

19 posts and last visit 2011 so some douche who joined fanatics, got enough posts to use cars for sale section and dumped a butchered half arse turbo M3. :thumbdo:

If the car was really built by EA Performance then that really is shocking...

The thing I hate the most is its running on gotech which cannot run vanos so the idiots cut the engine wiring harness and sensors to pieces and blanked off the oil feed to the vanos so there is no going back to OEM ECU!!!
Also there is no idle control valve so you have to pump the accelerator to get it to start.:argh:

just a question, if you are using the stand alone management. why would you need the idle control valve?

Either way the vanos will struggle to run with the connector cut off.
Cant believe that he wanted to sell for 150k, wonder what it actually went for.

What's more is that of the claims on the spec list were not true

The Holset "T66 equivalent" is actually much smaller than that and a mismatched combination to begin with.

It was indicated that the car was fitted with a Gotech Pro X ecu, it turned out to be the old Pro version.

The car was so badly tuned, if you can even use the word tuned, that the claimed power figures must've been way back when or quite imaginative

I had to make considerable changes to the map, just to get it to run smoothly and idle half decent.

Budler makes vanos locking plates, try him it myt be cheaper than importing. Also his neighbor is marius from fulboost, he does an amazing intake manifold for m's, similar to hpf. Its about R5k.

I know the feeling broer, I bought my current E36 from a guy in CPT in June, 1st it was grinding 1st and 2nd gear, repaired the gearbox, found that they had swooped the flywheel so it wasn't taking original BMW clutch kit and had spacers on the pressure plate, no fan and fan clutch, top was messed up missing engine bolts etc. I have just redone the whole motor from scratch and believe you me still no registration papers!

Went for R130k, the douche was happy to sell it to someone who hadn't seen it in person...

Marius has been doing all my tig welding for years, he is the only guy I trust with welding. Will speak to Boetie about the vanos plate.
