New to the 3 series site. Would like to know the different engine sizes of the E36 3 series cars. I know that the 316i is actually a 1800 motor, but are the 318i and the 318iS both 16 valve motors/ 1900cc??
Thanks guys. Was the 316i and 318i motor essentially the same with maybe a higher compression ratio?, or what is the difference?
Is it possible to "make" a 316i motor into a 318i motor with little effort??
316i had M40 motor and 318i had M42 motor - same bore and stroke but IMHO economically challenging to attempt , even if technically possible -head and dme etc would have to be changed .
Raybimmer, according to the link the later 316i and 318i had the M43 motors and i was wondering what was the difference as i have a 316i with the M43 motor.
