e36 caliper cleaning

hey guys, i got the disc brake caliper covers but before i put them on, how do i clean the caliper? what can i use?
also what can i use to secure the caliper covers? the guy at the shop said sica flex is great.. the stuff you stick windscreens with... want another opinion though...

Firstly...ugh...how do I put this nicely... Don't do the caliper covers, PLEASE...

Ok, now that you have decided to go through with it anyways, the only advice I further have is to go th the shop and kick that guy that told you about the Sikaflex IN THE NUTS.
Sikaflex is a polyurethane joint sealant and not suitable for normal silicone based tasks. The maximum service temperature of Sikaflex 11FC is 80 degrees celcius. You will lose those cover around the first turn...
