E36 325i lifters noise

Need some advice:

My e36 lifters have become very noisy recently. I did an oil change and added some lifters treatment but it seems like its not helping.

What can be done to make them quite again or does it have to be changed. And what would the cost be like to get it all sorted.

What oil are you using bud and what's your mileage?

Mileage is around 186 000 and i use 10w40

Oil is the correct grade. Is it always noisy or just on startup and then again once it's hot/ been driven hard?

On startup its not so bad but once its warm and driven hard and that... it tends to get noisy

Definitely lifters then. Goldwagen, Masterparts and BMW keep stock of them. Do all 24 and replace the tappet cover gasket and grommets while you at it :thumbs: the cams have to be removed so send it to someone reputable or they will screw up the timing

Thats sounds like an expensive job... how much should one budget in order to get it sorted?

Well I know vac sells OEM lifters for $24 each but I would suggest going to goldwagen or masterparts and getting a quote on them. Labour is probably around R2000 depending on where you go
