My Dad is said owner of the 525i Touring Jandre mentioned... But I don't think he is too keen on selling...

My dad's touring is in Lower Main Rd, Observatory during the week as he works out of an office there.

It is an amazing vehicle, and attracts ALOT of attention for an old car (1996). A few owners of other examples have stopped us, and according to them, the M52B25 Motor in the e34 525i Touring was an increased capacity 2700cc motor, with improved outputs.

It was also the only 5-series model to be imported to our shores using this motor, and outputs are reported to be at "around 160kw" ATF.

Performance is astonishing for a vehicle this size, and since my dad is no stranger to the M52B25, it can be confirmed that it performs better than an equivalent e36, for a MUCH bigger vehicle.

But, I do agree... most of these vehicles require work... our car, for instance, needs a new fuel filler cap(broken off by a petrol station assistant), the sunroof/s require new rubbers, the high pressure hose for the power steering needs to be replaced as it recently broke, the electronics are strange as the rear hatch release tends to work when it feels like and the cubby needs a new lock mechanism... mostly issues caused by the previous owner, but costly to repair...

As a dynamic vehicle of its size and era, it is almost without compare though... and as such, the value to their owners will by far exceed the value that a prospective buyer would attach to it.

A previous owner made us an offer of R40k, and my dad wouldn't part with it, even with all of its "quirks"... As a younger guy, I would maybe look at an e30 touring, as such:

There are tons of DIY repair posts on Bimmerforums for the Touring double-roof and common faults like the filler cover.
