Driving difficulty with M performance lip ?

Hi

Just wanted fellow fanatics view on those that have the m performance front lip on their F30s Msport. Is it really hindering when driving it ? Given it’s more or less the same height as the front splits... does it really create difficulty when driving?

Depends where you want to drve, remember the lip protrudes in the center so steep downhills or driveways will scrape it. MSport cars are relatively low.

I scraped my Carbon Spitters, going to cost me a new bumper and new splitters! :rage: lots of $$$

This is why I decided against it initialy. my 2c

General comment, but I think it really depends on how careful you are. If you look under your bumper to see how much you are actually scraping you can make a better assessment. Because of the profile of almost any lip, it is more likely to 'catch and pull' than scrape vs. a stock bumper IMHO, especially if lowered. Same goes for skirts or the CF extensions on the sides, you would be surprised at how close your car comes to contact on big or poorly profiled bumps for instance... just takes a couple of extra mm.

It's a massive difference... I'm sure I look like a total retard slowing down to a stop and taking every speed bump at an angle etc but if i don't then I hear a lovely crunchy sound.
I rather take a busier road now because it doesn't have speed bumps etc. Definitely not the most practical mod...

I have the front lip on my cars and it does become a bit of an irritation when:

Going over high speed bumps

Entering and exiting weird driveway

Trying to avoid something on the road when swerving is not an option

Would I remove it? Never!

The lip on my old car sat roughly 10cm of the ground, I had one of the 2nd OEM kit in SA, back in 2013, I sold the car a year ago and still has the original lip on! Mine was colour coded.

The trick is to go slowly over speed bumps and driveways just go at an angle. Once you used to it u will be fine

My 2c..

I was considering the lip, but realised that the PITA of driving on SA roads was not worth it. A possible solution is to wrap the lower parts of the stock M Sport front skirt. This gives you the look, without the headache. I just need to find a good placement for the black wrap that won't look cheap...
