DIY DCI

Ok so, i thought i would share.
I was bored a while back and decided to make myself a duel cone intake, since it seemed easy enough.
Got some filters from Masterparts , ones with a 63mm opening I think.
Cant remember exactly, or what they cost me. But they were pretty cheap.
Then i got some 63mm inter cooler piping from motorcade for 60 bucks, cut them to 12cm length.

And there you go. You got a DCI. Fits PERFECTLY.

Excellent job, Lazlo. I have been looking at various DCI options and how to use the stock airbox with a variation. I mention to Revo about a cheaper option which you have now fitted...so we were on the same wave length...great

We become so infatuated with the overseas products that we forget there are cheaper and the same quality options down the road from us....well done.

Just a thought: Also check for cones (locally) that does not have the aluminium cap, restriction infront...i will see if i can find a pic to give you an idea...but well done once again.

The issue of hot air being blown into the cones underhood have been tested and dealt with by so many tuners and they all have a different opinion. Some of these tests are available online...google.

Rennzport has done some back to back dyno runs with cones and stock filters in partnership with zeemax. We will post our ideas up sometime. Life has just been hectically busy lately.

Thanks twins.
I was did try and get ones without the cap, but these were the only ones I could find with the right size opening, so that i could use straight couplers. Otherwise I would have to have had reducers made. Because its a bit of a strange size.
If u want to use the stock airbox, google "mr.5 intake".
He got more power from the way he is using his stock intake than he did with his dci's. I wanted to do what he did, but I still need my stock airbox.

Yes I am a Noob but please explain the benifit of the duel cone intake?

It is just less restrictive than the stock intake. Im happy with the result. Car feels a lot more responsive. And if u have a tune u will benefit even more.

As for the hot air, there has been so many tests. And overall it seems that it doesnt really make a difference. Or thats the theory im going with. :mmm:

I would love an Injen type one. Only problem is that they dont fit with the Active Autowerke BOV. So i cant run one of them.
