Whats the difference between the N42 105KW and the N46 105KW? What "fixes" does the later have over the first one and which one do you prefer?

The N46 had slightly more power at 110kw but still 200Nm.

The same engine was carried over to the 2005 E90 320i.

That's why i'll never buy me a 320i, because I owned a 318i E46 and can't see why i should own the 'same car' twice?

Ricky, the 110kw version never made it into the e46 in SA, only the z4 2.0, 120i and the e90 320i.

The e46 in SA got the 105kw version of the n46.

okay sorry, but nevertheless, i don't think it is really worth the effort. The advantages are minimal and they both are just as 'unrefined' and rough' in my opinion.

I've driven both and it really didn't impress me. The car feels heavy and underpowered. That is why i don't step back for guys with E90 320i's. They are not driving a fast car.

haha, I got a 120i as a loaner from Forsdicks while my car was in for some work about 2 yrs back (I miss MP), and it was dog slow, I still say there was something wrong with that car, because my e46 320i felt like a jet compared to that thing.
