im a bit confused... what ratio you looking for?

3.7 -4.11 are not normal ratios...

what engine you got in there now? if you tell me that i can tell you what ratio its supposed to have

I got a 2jz toyota with t72 ballbearing turbo & nos
+- 600 kw at wheels

I dont know the bmw ratios so good but im looking for a short ratio in the
region of 3.7-4.1 or as close as i can get to a 4 ratio
I have 19 inch rims and tyres on and a bmw 540 gearbox in at the moment

e46 ratios dot go that high :( the best you will get is a 3.46 (open diff) on a direct fit...

you can modify the subframe and fit an e46 M3 Lsd diff (im not sure how easy M3 diffs are to get) that is 3.64...
the other option is to get a custom Lsd from diffsonline they can do custom ratios, but it will cost you 20-30k

oh and btw:

it comes from any auto except the 330i(3.38)
the 318i has a different diff...

the problem you have is you need an LSD with that much power... and you will rip the sub frame out of the floor so id start looking for an e46 M3 with front damage you can take the sub frame and diff from there then while you have the back of your car striped you can reinforce the floor...

if you get a 3.46 diff it will only be a temporary solution rather get the M3 diff (3.64 lsd) if you can get the sub frame it will be a bonus... if you cant get the sub frame then take yours out and mod it to fit the diff...

i think you have a 2,35 diff (if you give me the year model i can make sure) now so yes the ratio is crazy long, but you also need an lsd and to strengthen your floor so it makes more sense to get the M3 diff and do everything at once...

Wat do you mean by strengthen the floor and will the m3 sub frame fit or do i need to modify that as well
If i can get a m3 diff how big of a job is it to modify that into my subframe

google rear sub frame failure and you will see what happens with the power you making it will definitely happen to you :( basically you need to reinforce where the sub frame connects to the body by welding in plates... its not hard to do but you need to strip the back of the car to do it so you have to drop the sub frame anyway...

while the sub frame is out you can mod it to fit the M3 diff it is quite a big job:

your subframe:

M3 subframe:

as far as i know the sub frames are a direct swap, im sure a quick search will tell you if it is :)

you will also need to modify the flanges on the diff to fit your shafts...

this is a lot of work so i have decided to get an OS giken lsd (clutch type)... but depending on what you want to use the car for a Quaife (gear type) would be a better choice both go for about 15k...
you will need a diff with the ratio you want to run to fit the lsd inside (3k)

those are the options :) the thing is you need to decide what you going to do so you only drop the sub frame once its not the kind of thing you want to do often

I have decided to go with a OS giken lsd and save myself the trouble of modding the sub frame
