about after a week of owning my car the diff started to leak i took it in to be fixed at a local diff place they replaced the left side bearing and topped it up with oil.

now i see it is leaking again but now it seems to be coming from somewhere on top of it but i can be sure where

i was not happy with the workshop i took it to so i would rather not take it there if i can help it but i also feel they may have done something wrong and so they should fix it

I agree with that, they should fix it.

If not, take it to CCV Solutions in Wynberg and see if Mike will take a look at it.

Otherwise, Gizmo is our local diff expert, give him a PM.

im doing a 6 sped box conversion soon as i find someone i trust to shorten the drive shaft when i do that im changing to a 3.46 diff so was thinking if a can ill hold off fixing the diff its not leaking to bad i just dont want to break something...could i do some sort of patch job for now and monitor it?

seems like a better idea than taking it to the diff shop so they can take it apart (and so doing make my car immobile) then say it is a different problem that they need to fix i refuse to give them another cent

ok so i made time this wkend to jack the car up and have a look at exactly where the oil is coming from.
it is coming from where the half shafts connect on both sides.
previously when took it in the left side was leaking catastrophically they said they replaced the left side bearing and there were no leaks for at least a week after
is this a common problem with the e46?
can anyone tell me what is it most lightly to be?

I really dont want to take it back to them because i know they going to want to charge me for the right side now and then it will also be in the shop for another week...
but like i said before i already paid them to do the job and as far as im concerned they did not...
