Just out of curiosity i called BMW to find out ...R513 for the bulb carrier, R21 for the plug and R55 for a set of female plugs(not sure on the quantity) .

And to think after spending a smidge under R600 the problem might reoccur.... prefer to stick to the DIY, just need to source thicker wire today.
Just double the wire you have now.

Well I think it maybe be fixed. Although I'm not 100% sure. I did not get any warnings today.

Holding thumbs.

On the facelift its easy. I had the technical service note somewhere. It tells you to replace the conector and add an extra earth that you tap from the body to the terminal on the bulb holder itself.

That's what I ended up doing. Managed to get a thicker wire as well. Haven't gotten any errors as yet. Holding thumbs.

Just to round this up. I think my problem was partly the earthing problem, But I also pulled each bulb out and gave it a clean and gave the socket a clean. You would be shocked at how dirty the taillight bulb holders are. Either from dirty roads or from the respray...

Now I do not have any warning lights beside a airbag light for the drivers door airbag.

Does anyone know where I can get a replica drivers door airbag wiring harness? Dealers want over R1k just for a wire and plug. Will try look for one at a scrap yard. I just need the plug.

Thanks

I also noticed my bulbs were not too grand, the filaments were discoloured, one bulb was almost black( on the inside) so i replaced them. will put up pics this weekend.

Yeah glad you got yours sorted. I didnt like driving with my indicators flicking so fast, makes the car look bad.

My bulbs were all fine, I doubt any of them are still originals lol. There was just so much dust. O_O

So i removed the carpet and had a look at the wiring and plug. I found the following.

I don't have any tabs to use, so am considering the method of drilling a tiny hole and fixing the connector there. I could replace the housing, but what stops it from happening again.

The left side checked out fine.

Mine was past that point, the tab on the bulb holder was corroded into the plug and on the pics i had removed the ground from the plug. Mine had nothing to slide onto on the bulb holder. Just glad no issues since and was also concerned about errors that might have been picked up by the loosening of the grounding block, but all went well.
