Dealership Woes

dude I understand your frustration, the DP was prepared to take the car back.

you need to decide what you expect out of this, I understand that there is no other car like this,

it is what it is unfortunately,

One thing you are right about, there is no other car like it, who knows that they did.

I would take them up on the offer of taking the car back. You will find something else out there that will make you happy.

Everyday you have this car will be a reminder of what happened.

Personally I would hand it back and start the search again.

It will constantly be in the back of your mind. And one day out of motorplan something goes wrong and you will find out that it was because of a switched part? You will regret not having handed it back...

Don't go for instant gratification at the expense of sound logic is my 5c...

Just my suggestion. But you will know what sits best with you...

Sincerely.... Good luck man!

Sorry to hear bud. Terrible situation to be in.

BMW stealerships are getting worse and worse.

When I bought my used BMW from SMG Cape Town from a salesman by the name of Carlo, he ensured me that the stone chips on my bonnet would be removed. On the day of collection, he told me "no they would never respray the bonnet".

Worse car salesman ever.

I was way to busy with travelling and studies to properly take it up with BMW SA

Its hard not let emotions guide your judgment, but the smart thing to do is let the car go.

Maybe i am a bit of a conspiracy theorist but whats not to say
that the vehicle was not fitted with some sort of tracking device while in Alex
and at some point they coming back to collect it?

my Bakkie was loaned out to a friend..... He pawned it....for the obvious money he needed for certain substance. eventually got it back but continuous battery problems. eventually a mate stripped it and found my tracker as well as second unit hidden just behind the radio with fresh tape on it as if its been fitted recently.

Sounds quite feasible. This is a crime riddled country . Definitely not conspiracy theory !!

I'd at the very least innocently ask BMW Sa what the car was doing in Alex after you booked it in for the repair, ie the Dp will have to answer to BMW why they are using non arc repairers, probably at the very least get rapped over the knuckles or worse.

I think Melrose Auto is part of the Daytona Group, an unlisted private group. A Google search will show who the owners are. If you keep the car, get an unconditional confirmation that car is within spec, no parts replaced, no additional trackers etc etc etc and include consequences and the dealerships liability if something goes wrong. Any lawyer can help you with drafting. As much as it's inconvenient though consider returning, the dealer played their "lack of integrity" hand and that's enough never to trust them. Good luck.

Give the car back, I am sorry bro but there is no such thing as "there is no other car like this". you r heart and pocket might bleed later on and you will then kick yourself and say, i should have taken the car back.

Let it go, it is a car and possible problem child in the future, do yo really want to have the car with a dwindling grey cloud about your sunroof everyday?

I let my very first turbo car go back the dealer only because the defect was too great and they offered to take it back, at that time, the deal was so sweet but i had think properly if i want this in future or not.

Good luck bro! All the best!

Once again thanks for all the suggestions/comments guys. I am definitely leaning towards returning the vehicle, but now I'm just looking for the replacement.

I'm meeting with the DP and a rep from BMW SA next friday to further discuss the situation but I don't really see much else coming of that.

On that note... does anyone know someone selling a 235/240 with a similar spec to mine?

Not sure if I missed it, too lazy to go thru the thread again. What spec are you looking for?

Current spec is as follows:

Xenons
PDC front/rear
Sunroof
Professional Nav
Harmon/Kardon Sound
Extended lights package
Extended cluster display
Performance exhaust & CF spoiler (these obviously can be added after)

Looking for basically the same as that. Most of them I'm not happy to compromise on (just the sunroof makes no difference to me).
