Most E46s also have GM5 central locking issues. Only 6k or so for a new one, but a common problem non-the-less.

Please don't generalise.

I have 3x E46 cars and 1x E83 X3 (which has the same GM5 module), none of which has ever given any problems related to the GM5.

This is the same as saying that all automatic gearboxes on E46 cars will explode, which is objectively not true. There are many high-mileage auto E46 cars out there with no issues.

Well at least he didn't say it happen to all E46s, he said its a common problem, which it really is. I also have 3x E46s where this has never been an issue, but look it up on the internet, it happens a lot to many E46s. Nothing wrong with being prepared, and better to learn about alternative ways to fix that cost less and essentially do the same thing. You don't always need to replace a whole module when the parts are easily fixable.

Goes with everything in life really.

GM5 module and autobox failure are common issues. There's enough online to justify that claim. That is not to say that they will always fail on every example.

it would take R120k + for me to get rid of my E46 330i...recently declined a R110 000 offer.

and its not perfect either but better than 95% out there
FSH
inspection1 due in 4000km
front bumper respray - stone chips
back bumper respray - fading
intermittent misfire which will be sorted out with service
left window regulator replacement

if i throw R20k at her (apart from service) it would be pretty much perfect
would like to replace headlight & spot light lenses though

That was a really great offer.

Not many would be willing to offer that, some talk but actual deals are way below that. If I were you, I'd keep it. Clean ones are rare o come by.

Also had plenty of talk, but when the time came it was a different story really. Advertised price vs sales price are two very different things.

The reality is that few people out there appreciate these cars outside the forum.. so it’s a tricky one.

automatic - do a lot of driving so prefer the auto for convenience , but this car begs for a manual.

wasnt ready to sell it now , next car will be a 335/135 , when i'm ready to sell i'd probably have to settle for a lot less than R120k

My problem on my 330i currently also GM5 module related. Further just needs some tlc. Love it and i have the manual 5 speed in alpine white. Just want to change the interior color to black inside because the grey is working on my nerves. :dunnoanymore:

Bring it here!

I don't mind grey interior (after owning too many cars with black interior)

My favorite are the factory two tone interiors

It's so important to be patient and buy the right car.

My 325Ci drives a lot better than many cars, including my wife's F30 which she had since new. To my surprise it has a supple, ride too, not sure if previous owner did anything on suspension as it drives better than my 330Ci which is a much harder ride. I suspect tyres as well as my 325Ci has new continentals that I purchased whilst the 330Ci has good year runflats.
