Hey guys, got sum cash and im looking to buy a 2012 bmw 520i. yap first bmw so im not sure of the cost i would be incurring. i jst wanna knw basic thing, like how much a major and minor service will cost, is the parts expensive, if so where can i get cheaper ones from, things like this. I will really appreciate the help.

Welcome! I have no knowledge of the newer 5s, but I do know from experience that keeping an E39 on the road is not for the impecunious. Reliability is not disastrous but it is not stellar either. The biggest bugbear for me is the cooling system. Water pumps stop pumping and radiators have a nasty habit of radiating steam into the atmosphere.

As for parts, you don't need the stealerships for much. Autozone e.a. will sell you filters and stuff for servicing. For other things places like Goldwagen can sort you out. I have a theory about figuring out what breaks. Just check on the interwebs what the aftermarket sells, hehehe.
