Collinite 915

Hi,
I just received my goods from you that included the Collinite 915. I noted the directions on the can say to apply with a damp cloth.

In the past I used Meguires wax with their sponge applicators. Will these be fine for the Collinite and should I make them damp.... or just use a damp cloth

If you damp them, it won't work - it will take a lot more effort to apply. The megs applicator should work, but it probably won't last long. I just apply it to a dry applicator (used the crasy detailer one) and remove with the plush microfibre. Be sure to do this before you go to gym

Dont let it stay on the paint for more than 2 minutes and panels must be cool else you will struggle to get it off!

Hey Andreas187

Collinite wax company are old school. They've been around for over 75 years. (They still hand pour every tin of 915!) Pity they haven't updated their instructions though as waxing techniques have improved dramatically in recent years.

To answer you question, NO you do not use a cloth to apply ANYTHING to your car ! Leave the mutton cloths to the chops ...

Stick to your foam applicators and microfiber towels. I keep a spray bottle of clean water handy. I use this to mist the pad as I move from panel to panel. This way you get just the right amount of dampness when applying a wax or polish. Try to apply as thinly as possible else you
will find it differcult to remove (if you put it on too thick.) Also do not let it sit for more than 20 minutes on the paint.

#915 is Collinite's concours wax and it does require a little more effort than Collinite #476 and #845 waxes, but the little effort is made up for by the results!

I tried a tiny patch with a dry foam pad earlier before I read the replies, and then another patch with a slightly damp foam pad and it did seem to go on easier, smoother and probably thinner like that.

Now I've just read your reply and think a fine mist sprayer is the perfect solution to getting the pad ever so slightly damp. Thanks

The wind is howling down here in CPT so just did the bonnet. I'm loving that Chemical Guys EZ Glaze.... highly recommended.

The paintwork on my wife's 116 is severely damaged and might need a professional to look at it. Do you know who I should contact in Cape Town?

The roof especially has been so badly scratched that tree 'goop' wont even come off
