Chirping bird when hot

The crank pulley that was replaced a year ago seems to be the culprit. The rubber is sort of twisted???

Sorry to hear that, silly question perhaps, but didn't the chirp go away when you replaced it the last time ?

Have you done what I suggested and removed both belts and run the car ?

Are you doing any work on this car yourself or is a workshop doing everything for you ?

The crank pulley was replaced a year ago because it had tears in.

Now the mechanic said it has warped. But the noise comes and goes. It like rubber rubbing somewhere. Have to use it for 3 weeks and see how it goes. Then will go back if the sound keeps coming back.

Is the sound worse when turning?
Is it worse when the car is moving?
Does the sound ho away when clutch is pressed in?

What would be the problem if the noise goes away when the clutch is pressed in ?

I've also got a chirping noise on the E90 320d. Auto Atlantic has so far changed the
  • power steering pulley
  • 1 x tensioner pulley
  • 1 x V-belt

the sound is still there.

I am having the alternator replaced and after that i have no idea what their next move is.

Then it's clutch release bearing/throwout

Then it's clutch release bearing/throwout

how urgently should this be addressed ?
could any other components suffer consequential damage ?
I recently had my clutch replace at a BMW workshop. Could they or should they have detected the failing bearing they were changing my clutch ?

I'd say crank pulley, BMW changed just about everything that ran in my 120d, crank pulley was the last item... had so many different serpentine belts, new alternator etc etc etc... change crank pulley... problem solved... money always on that.

The chirp was intermittent, didn't happen every time I drove, especially with the technician in my car... but when I pulled up next to decent dolly birds I'd have to hide my face in the shame that my vehicle was being run on bird power.
