Changing oil filter every other service

Specifically with individuals choosing to change oil every 10 000km, as apposed to the recommended 15 000km interval in diesels;

Do you replace the oil filter every other service (20 000km), or every 10 000km?

I am curious to hear opinions, and reasoning...

I have yet to change to my oil, but I would change the oil filter every 10'000kms with the oil.

Change the oil filter when you change oil. no point in a dirty filter contaminating clean oil.

I service all my cars and bikes early. Bikes @ 7 500 and cars after every track outing or 10k km's. I always change the filters as well as oil, the ktm has 3 oil filters that get changed.

My reasoning is somewhat personal preference, the way I see it, I'd rather change the filters than take the chance that one of them can't flow enough (due to them doing their job and becoming "clogged" with particles) and the engine undergoes some or other form of oil starvation.

Like I said, it's a personal preference thing for me, but I expect the best out of my vehicles, and as such, they get treated in such a manner.

As I understand it, it does take a few thousand km for a new oil filter to get to its optimum filtering capacity. So on very short oil change intervals (e.g. every 5000km) it would make sense to change the filter every other service, however I feel that if you are changing every 10 000km then its worth changing the filter every time.

after servicing my 335 last night and having a look at the filter, it seemed like the filter was in there for sometime. which makes me wonder how effective the filter essentially becomes.

I've always done oil change every 10k with new filter and have never had motor issues.
