Changing diff ratios

Hey guys

I got a 316 body e36 BMW with a 2jz gte motor and gearbox and i use the car for drifting.

My problem is i need to change the diff ratio from a 3.38 to a 4.1 or 4.4. That is the origonal ratio that is for the 2jzgte set up.

My problem is when i get to 3rd gear i am out of boost and the drift stops so with a better diff ratio my speed will be slower but i will be in boost.

I went and bought the diff that came out of a 318i auto which is 4.44 but the diff is small and does not fit the side shafts and prop shaft.

Any help on where i can buy a diff that will fit in my e36 or where i can get the ratios i would greatly appreciate it.

Regards

I can build up a 4.10:1 E36 medium case diff for you, R3k.

E36 316i manual came with a 3.46 and not a 3.38 btw.

Can it be done to take the internals out the small diff and put it in the big diff?
No.

the 4.44 ratio was also not build to take high power or torque...

I think your best bet is to modify the rear to accept a 4.44 from a Jap car this will also open up many LSD options...
