Catalytic Converter & Turbo

Good evening Folks,
I have a question... a couple actually
I have a 2003 320d
1) can a catalytic converter lead to the failure of a turbo and
2) can a diagnostics test pick up whether there is a problem with the turbo?

yes it can! the exhaust gasses turns the turbo and if the gasses going out is restricted the turbo will cavetate! diagnostics will pick up boost failure but that can meen a lot of things!

Can the cats be cleaned as a precaution measure? Any other precon-maintenance one can look at?

Cool thx, would the turbo seize due to the cat being clogged/blocked? The diagnostics will show that there is a problem though, not be clear?

Definatly because the turbo will overheat if the gasses dont flow..

There arent real precautions for cats. They have a life time of about 100k kms. Remove them the just steel ur power and fuel ecconomy. They are not law yet here so get the buggers removed. Some cars like ST and S4 get computer errors if you remove the cats. Then u get mini cats. Its a fitting you turn your lamda sensors in with give a cat restricted reading!
