Car very sluggish

Hi Guys

I am looking for some advice. I went to paarl yesterday and noticed that my e36 is very sluggish. It feels like its holding back and tends to loose power on the up hills. i only get 140km/h in fourth gear when really pushing it off the line. I did some research and came across guys talking about the cat causing the issue.

Now i am not sure whether the SA e36 has a cat system, if so could this be the cause of my slow (sluggish car) or could it be a bigger issue.

looking forward to some good advice.

thanks

Could the filters not also contribute to this? Maybe change the fuel and air filters first as it would be cheapest?

Also maybe get a diagnostics done first to see if it gives you any errors.
Wrt the cat, there's one middle cat on the e36, you can remove it and replace with a silencer or resonator if needed.

The car was serviced before i bought it. I still have two green bars on the service level meter.

It could have been serviced but not everybody always changes those filters often. Our fuel and air are dirty.

+ 1 on the service, esp the fuel filter.

Also, has this happened recently after you took ownership?
Maybe you are expecting a bit too much out of your motor?

Sounds like a blocked exhaust. Sometimes the inner of the silencers come losse and block the silencers. The car probably will not rev above 3500rpm even when standing still
