Car sometimes doesnt start

To all the Bmw gurus out there. please assist. i have a 316i 98 model manual.
i think there is a ghost in my engine or what i have no clue.

a few years ago it started where i parked at a hospital and when leaving the car refused to start, i caught a lift and tried the next day but the same thing. After 3days it just switched on like normal and was fine after that.

2 months ago same thing happen at work, this time i tried jump starting it but still didnt start, the next morning i turned the key and voala its started like normal.

And then 2 days ago at home same thing happens, it refuses to start, we try jump starting it and kick starting it, but still nothing, does nt want to start, then yesterday i try and voala it starts up like normal and its starting fine right now.

i have no clue what it could be, its abit scary knowing at any time i could be far away from home and maybe it does not start. What could it be?

nope nothing, no noise at all when you turn the key

Battery terminals secured properly?

Perhaps a faulty immobiliser?

when you turn the key
1)does the ignition come on..(lights/radio etc)
2)when you try to turn the key into "start", does it "click-click-click", or does it turn over but not fire up ?

if the ignition comes on but no engine turn-over when twisting into "start", then it could be starter motor

if the engine actually turns under starter motor but no fire-up, then it could be many things, like imobilizer, fuel pressure, crank/cam sensors etc

Try use a different key if you have one :thumbs:
Sounds exactly the same as my problem.
