Hey guys!

I dont know if im posting in the correct section - so if not pardon me:banghead:

Well here is my pickle : :bawling::bawling:

I drive a 2010 cooper s - and love my sound ,quality stuff (not the bass shizzit)

Im planning an install and are almost ready to have it installed now my problem is:

My dealer only deals with mr. X and recommends them
although
mr. Z is ten times beter - are involved with IASCA & EMMA(sound standard) also runs in the circles of Joel Copping (electronics guru) etc.-
he is not authorized.

So you see my system totals around 50k ,so I dont wan spend it and be unhappy with my system because only mr. X is authorized

How and where or to whom can I speak to get authorization to let him do it?

Just dont want to run into shizzit with warranty issues - murphy is unkind :censored::censored: ...............

thanx in advance!

Dude as long as its a registered sound install company, that has a vat number bmw can't do shit to you.
When I bought my car just over 3 years ago, they also tried that one with me,
I gave them the finger, and did the install elsewhere.
What you can do, is phone the bmw motorplan guys at head office.
tell them you plan on installing sound at a registered place, and will even take the car for inspection at the dealership afterwards.
I can almost garantee you they wont have a problem with you doing it that way.

he is not authorized
thats the main/only problem, i see R50k so you going big now if there a problem then atleast you can always say he is bmw authorised and they wont moan.

the reason why the dealer say you HAVE to take it to that specific place,
is cause they get kick-backs from that place.
I am telling you, call the bmw motorplan people in jhb head office,
the number is listed on www.bmw.co.za, and find out directly from them.
If they then tell you you have to take your car there,
tell them you want a list with all the approved installers, so you have options.
Fact is, your car, your choice, just be a bit "hardegat"

And just remember if the motorplan guys tell you anything, like for instance, that you may use this place that is possibly not approved, just as them for it in writing, or try and conduct the business via email so that you have something to fall back on if there is need for it.

Gents,

Official stance from Motorplan is as follow, it depends on the claim.

If you spice into wires for audio, and then try and do a claim for a hifi system later, nobody will honour it.

If your exhaust goes out, and you have an aftermarket system, they should still honour the claim, but dont try and claim if the radio keeps popping a fuse and you have massive system in.

By the way, Rob from Motortechnique in PTA, also high in the food chain, (won me top place for SQ at the rand easter show) is exceptionally experianced with BMW, and is also approved by them.

cool thanx guys.

Ill try :slap: these okes abit.

Sean Blignaut from dls&jl also said I should do as "Coisman" recommended.

Now one last question - there is apparently a special plug adapter that gets supplied to installer which allows them not to splice into wires and just tap it from this adapter (plug &play)

Where the hell can I get this?
