I bought my E90 recently and i think it is a great car. That being said: have a thorough look-though before buying.

Service history, visible signs of damage/panelwork, dents and scrathces, Motorplan history and interior damage/scuffs and tears.

The newer 320i's are good cars and accelerate well, but look for unwanted noises, clunks & rattles. There is a known door rattle plagueing the E90's.

Make sure your extra key, mats and CD shuttle is there.

Make sure the level of oil is high enough when taking delivery.

The dealer told me that it was going for a 20-point check. Are these things covered in that check? Also if any issues are found it should be covered by the motor plan?

Motorplan covers mechanical integrity and safety. I assume your vehicle will be in excellent condition when you collect it, however, it remains your responsibility to make sure you insist on things you perceive to be 'missing'. CD shuttle, books, keys, mats, Nav discs, First aid kits, tools, etc.

Its a almost new car so if the check goes well which i probably will the only fault really is body work(which the dealers can normally sort out for you if you push) cause with motor plan u reasonably safe with all major machanical parts.Check the tires cause i got new ones when i insisted when i bought my other car(work the deal good and you will have a great car).

The motorplan check is not the be all & end all. My dads E60 passed the motorplan check & Change of ownership with a busted & loose shock absorber..

did motor plan sort the shock out?

I suppose you can neva be 100% sure with some people and companys

@Hagshen, if everything good and all papers check out then i would buy it at the right price lol(really like the new f/l look)

They did sort it out, after we bought the car and drove it, & I noticed it was very twitchy in the rear even with the 245/40/18's..

No, it's just that I've got an E90 320i 2005 and it doesn't accelerate well. So I was wondering if perhaps there were any engine overhauls made in the 2009-2010 models to allow it to accelerate much quicker. Obviously everyone has their own expectations with acceleration but I don't find my 320i to accelerate well.

@Hagshen i havent done much shopping around but i would say between R250-R260k, check autotrader.co.za and do a comparison.

i found acceleration the same

But the 320i is a nice car and and the f/l is hot.
We had a 2007 320i sportpack and i liked the car for everyday driving and it was easier on my wallet at the pumps to:)

Hagshen you should drive the car and if you happy with the power and how it goes thats all that counts bud

I agree that the 320i is a very nice car. When I floor the accelerator in first the car goes ! It really does. It pushes me back into my seat and that's no exaggeration. But after 2-3 seconds at most, that momentum dies VERY quickly and that's the problem. After that momentum build up it just dies.

Make no mistake, I love my BMW. It handles very, very well, it's comfortable and well, it's a BMW. Speed is alright. If you have been driving a 1.4 or 1.6 engine all your life (like me), then the 2.0l 110 kw engine (or 115 kw engine in the new models) will be a refreshing change of pace. Obviously, once you've become accustomed to a engine like this one, you'll want more speed. Trust me, after 2 months, you'll wish you wanted a 325i or 330i. Since ones budget determines what one buys, that may not always be an option. But I love my 320i because of the handling and it's always been a dream of mine to own a car like this.

However if I had to do it all over again, I would have saved a little more and gotten the 325i. Can't complain now since I took delivery of the 320i two months ago but all things considered, I'm a happy camper. :)

Couldnt say it better myself, but some people are not all about power they like comfort and cruizing so it all depends on that person, me personally cant live without power:shocked:

Problem for me is that I can't modify squat on the car without voiding my motor plan which is until 2012 (extended). So I have to make do with the power on tap. :)

Edit : Obviously the only modification I can make without voiding my motor plan (that I'm aware of) is changing the tires and rims which will save me weight. Run-flats are not light. But that probably wouldn't make a big enough difference to be worthwhile anyway except for improved comfort while driving and to improve the overall look of the car. Although if anyone could recommend a mod that would improve speed without voiding my motor plan I'm all ears.

Love my E90 320i, I just wish I could figure out what to do regarding the run flats... I'm petrified of needing to replace a wheel unexpectedly and not having dosh for that!
