Hey guys.
So it's been mauling in my head for the past couple of months to get a bigger car and I would like to get it before going on leave in December.
Obviously I would like to stick to the BMW stable and the choices are X3 and X5 and preferably the 3.0d option. X5 would offer more than enough space.
Been harvesting the gum lately and it seems like I have the following options :
1. Trade the E90 325i on an E53 (2004 to 2006ish) shape X5 3.0d
with mileage from around 130,000km to 150,000km with maybe a small cash difference.
Example :
2. Trade the E90 325i and the Caddy Bakkie and finance about R100k on an E70 (2008 ish) shape X5 3.0d with around 100,000km.
Example :
I would prefer not to take option 2 because I intend to upgrade the house soon and wouldn't like to be stuck with a car payment...
Questions :
1. What would you do?
2. Should I considder something else (ex. Kia SPortage @ R230,000 with +/- 60,000km) ?
If option 1 is chosen, what should I be concerned about when looking at an E53 3.0d and what features should I aim for?
Obvious choices :
1. Full service history.
2. If large wheels are fitted the tyres must be in a very good condition.
3. Overall neat and clean with preferably no accident damage.
Any and all help and opinions will be appreciated.
:thumbs::thumbs:
There's not much diffs in the engines when comparing the two, with the E70 gaining about 13kw and 20nm on the E53....
