I have a 320d e90 with 235000km. Car still drives very well. No major repairs. Consumption is on 6.3l/100km on my daily route. I have 19inch mags so that could also be a factor. Nice car overall. Goodluck on your purchase.
True that

Not great vs a poor petrol enjin i mean. ..i was under impression 320d is about 19km/l....my bosses 320d gave 18km/l...and he drive 180-220 with it..
Chap your boss is talking KAK.
Look at my profile pic to see what a 320D consumption goes to when sitting at 220km/h. That was my 320d Sportpack at 220km/h between Memel and Standerton
Let me help you with it...it goes to 15 litres per 100km's.
Maybe your boss is going downhill all the time at those speeds to get that consumption.:cartel:
Ok..u can be right their...
But im confused..did u not say in another thread u WANT to buy a 320d ..u have a x3?
Or did u have one before?
I have had 2 x 320d's (2009 Sportpack Demo traded in on a new 2010 320d Sportpack in December 2010)
I traded the 2nd 320d in on the X3 in Sept 2013 with 135000ks on the clock. Average consumption for the life of the car as per my Nedbank logbook was 6.8l/100km (mix of town and open road of 20%80%)
When I was on the open road (N3 mostly) I would set cruise control to 132km/h which was 125 km/h on GPS. On back roads like the one out to Standerton from the N3 between Warden and Villiers, I would quite often go quicker:rollsmile: a LOT quicker:biglol:
Best consumption I saw at that speed was Joburg to Durban 5.1l/100km - remember there's a lot of long downhills in that (Van Reenen's Pass then down into Mooi River and then all the way from Nottingham Road to Curry's Post.
Then Town Hill and after that from Cato Ridge to the bottom of Key Ridge. I am in Hillcrest so I miss out on the loooong run down the Marianhill Toll road.
If I lived in Pinetown I may see 4.9l/100km on such a trip:roflol:
To answer your final question, I have just bought another 320d which I will take over in December from my accountant. My wife now drives the X3 to keep the mileage down as much as possible (i have 102 000km's on the clock in 2yrs

)
