Buying a 135i

[Insane GSI]

Hi Guys

I'm in the market looking for a 135i. This is the first BMW that I'm buying. Is there any issues that I should look out for before buying or anything that I should take into consideration. Any advice with be much appreciated.

Depends entirely on what exactly you looking for? price range etc etc.

These cars are solid! No real issues. The usual dealer checks as to comments etc are always necessary of course. As for motors, there are 2 variants. N54 and N55. N54 suffered some ill with its HPFP but there was a recall and those were changed.
So no real issues to speak of. They great all round cars.

Thanks bud for your reply. I don't really have a very big budget. I'm looking for one around R250k max. I really like this car. I heard from a friend that some of the modules before 2010 had a issue with the turbos popping but the rectified it after 2010 by installing one turbo instead of two. Is this true.

hmmm, when the car got boosted higher than 1bar then yes, there were some issues around that where the turbo's would go, rarely, but it happened.
The injectors also had issues but all of this was relating to the HPFP.
At the stock 0.6 bar these turbo's dont give grief, and often when boosted higher and driven properly they do well and dont give issues.

Buy one, I did two weeks ago and can't stop driving the thing. I would say spend a little more and get one with MP and low KMs.

I got a DCT and I freaking love it, it is the best drive I have had for a very long time but be warned these things can drink.

Funny when I had a 3 series I allways had some shit head wanting to race, now I cant find anybody to play with :biglol:

I have mine for a year and love it!
2009 N54 .

It's tuned and boosts quite a bit higher than 0.6bar.
These little monsters are comfortable, beautiful , reliable and extremely powerful when tuned.
So far 700+ whp has been extracted from one of these with stock internals.

Check for power cable recall.
Check for hpfp replacement.
And obviously comments.

Hey guys How heavy on fuel is this car. My current Astra H GSI makes about 210 wkw but is quit light on fuel when im cruising. What fuel consumption do you guys get when you are cruising on the freeway. I know it will be heavy when I'm footing it.

N54 is quite heavy on the juice. you can expect open road only to be around 8l/100km's with cruise control at 120-130km/h. Mixed will be around 12.5l/100km's and town will be around 14-15l/100km's.
hammering it will see that sit around 16l/100km's

Pleasure man.
Expect to see that figure climb to 20l/100km's quite quickly if you in town only and having some fun.
Expect to average around +-15l/100km's
