Hi fanatics.

Looking to purchase an 320i with 53 000 on the ODO.

The car was last serviced in 2015/05/08 with 41757 on the ODO. Almost 2 years back. Should I purchase the car would i need to take the car in for a service?

Other strange elements were:

CHAIN TENSIONER, CAMSHAFT LEAKING on 16630km | 2012/05

CHAIN TENSIONER, CAMSHAFT LEAKING on 39595km | 2015/02
CYLINDER HEAD COVER GASKET LEAKING on 39595km | 2015/02

I have attached the history document.

What does this mean? Temporarily stopping the leaks?

The car probably require a full service very soon? When do I need to replace the breaks. How much do you guys think it will cost?

Thanks people

Hi all, meaning I should not pursue the purchase?

Yip, sorry bud.
But the 320i is a Donkey, no offence to those that have one.
if you want something more in that range rather look at a 323i or if budget allows 325i. if you wanna stick with the 4 pot, then get an A4, they hand the 320i its a$$ on a silver platter (im probably gotta get shot for sayin that LOL)

All right then.

Pity because its a very late 5th gen model and very low kms.

Why are you saying this? Is the service record looking bad? Or as you say the e90 320i is just to high of a risk to buy out of motorplan.

Thanks.

What bothers me is all the work that has been done, almost repetitively, then there is the fact that it seems it was stationary for most of the last two years. Makes me wonder why.

Thanks that you had an in-dept look.

The current owner says that the previous owner was a sick lady.

...but the last 1 and a half years it was owned by the current owner, whom says that she has been driving another car was the last few months. (gift from her partner in the form of a new 3series)

I would hate to rain on your parade, but if I were in your position I would definitely pass on the deal. Unless, of course, that the price is exceptionally low, to such an extent that it makes the car a good buy even after spending quite a bit of money to get it sorted out (possibly).

The 320i is the runt of the litter when it comes to BMW seeing as it is heavy on fuel, incredibly underpowered and not at all problem free, BUT some people still drive them due to the fact that they still are BMWs, so you still get all the creature comforts of, for example, a 335i. Having said that, to me, a 320i should be offered at a great price and/or spec and/or service history for me to even remotely consider purchasing it, which does not seem to be the case here.

These cars are relatively easy to lay your hands on, so if you miss out on this deal you'll probably run into 5 more in no time.

Good luck:coolShake:

E90 320i

Pass and consider 323i, 325i, 320d, you will thank yourself in the long run

Best all rounder of the lot, by far far far away

If you can't afford a 330d/335i there is only 1 3-series to consider - the 320d.
Even if you can afford the others a 320d still has so much to offer.

Thank you all.

I am considering the 320d because there is too much legitimate negativity on the 320i. Drove the 320i I wanted to buy and felt the lack of power, but I thought it could be because of the car weight.

I have passed on the deal. The price for the car was 155k. A good price for an 2011 320i with 53k ODO. But history record were a bit suspect.

Currently still in the market and hooked on BMW.

The 2006 e92 325i coupe, does this car have an turbo? I cant find an conclusive statement on this lol.

Liking the look of the 1 series coupe. Will also check out.

EDIT: Also, check this deal: https://www.gumtree.co.za/a-cars-ba...or-coupe-sport-pack/1001917972710910219930209

If these cars have turbos then im sure to run in problems.

Smart move giving that 320i a miss:clapper:

The 325i has a N/A inline-6, so no, there's no turbo, although they run fairly well. It also has that glorious BMW 6-cylinder soundtrack.

I personally think the 320d will be the best car to go for though. Fuel consumption is great and you get a large amount of torque available from low down in the rev range, so the car's driveability is great. Especially with an auto box.

Go test a 320d and make sure you take a pen with to sign the paperwork

I agree with Ferdi, The 320d would run circles around the 325i at the reef amd use a fraction of the fuel that the 325i uses. But the sound of the 325i is amazing which definitely attracts a lot of people to it,it is also extremely reliable.

All in all my money is on the 320d ,as an overall package you just can't beat it.

325i does not have a turbo bud.

It is a normally inline 2.5 6 cylinder.

It is actually a 3.0 6 cylinder, not that it makes much of a difference.
