A seperate spot with a work bench and vice, where you can grind and weld, whilst the car is out of action.
A shop should have a place to secure your tools in SA (and most other countries for that matter).
All the other's I can think of was already mentioned.
Good going.

Isn't it better to have it under the second car, so that you don't have to move a possibly immobile car that is being worked on out of the way each time you want to move the second car.

need to find a place to get steel grating
I got mine from Macsteel Trading in Germiston, my gf's dad works there.

A nice big extractor fan in there for removing fumes of running engines, fuel, charging batteries, welding etc
Mine will be mobile so it can be fitted to the pit to convert the area above the pit into a 3m x 6m spray booth. Filtered air from above gets sucked through the pit and ejected out the garage door.

will post pics tomorrow.....so far been digging for three days including today, soil is hard, the size is 4m x 1.3m opening, once it has double brick on either side, opening will be between 90-95cm. Foundations are 35cm above ground at the lowest point, and we dug down 1.8m, so its 2.15m deep now, however concrete will eat around 25cm.....and me 1.94m tall so have around 1.9m to garage floor so can confortably reach stuff

I just updated my garage build thread, in it you can see a few pics of the pit. I measured the length of a car to be 4.4m so that is at 1.9m depth, length of steps is 1.6m, finished size of opening 6m x 0.9m.

White is usually the preferred option.... how about half blue and then half white for the ceiling area?

Very light grey preferably a "Wall and All" semi gloss fully washable paint over rhino lite.

Lights 4 circuits of fluorescent lamps.

Hope it helps.

White is best for light reflection but I would get at least a meter from the ground up in a darker colour with good washable paint. Grey, yellow and white is a nice combo for a workshop.
