Thoughts on the Alpine/HiFi system upgrade? Worth doing? I absolutely hate the Stereo system in my 1er

Absolutely...., its a complete different sound. My car doesn't have the HK. so this was a great upgrade. Overall sound quality has improved significantly. If you keen, let me know, happy to share pricing etc with you.

Does it still have the "OEM look", or is it that typical Alpine Green?

Pretty much stock looking barring the Alpine branded tweeter housings. The retrofit kit consists of the Alpine amp, tweeters, new front mids and necessary wiring.

Rowen,

Which power dome bonnet are you going for? I'm on the look for one as well

Not sure, not too many options available. Javbrat on the forum has one on his black 135i and it looks amazing. I will let you know...BTW post some pictures of the Gruppe M intake...that is just pure porn!

Thanks buddy,

The Gruppe is amazing but it only arrived on Saturday and was ordered on the first week of August.

Car is going in sometime this week for the parts. Will get pics up after!

Maybe a meet is required to compare mods ;)

P.S. sorry for the thread Hi-Jack

With the Bemmer Fest a couple of weeks away, I’d thought it will be a good idea to dust off the cobwebs from my detailing kit and try get 1M ready. Although the last detail was done around 6 months ago, the car does see its fair share of drag / TLGP’s and the odd track day. Trying to have the best of both world’s requires you to take extra care.

I was planning to start with the wheels / arches and engine today, but the SO’s car is at the dealership and very unlikely it will out soon, I may only get it back late next week, so this mean’s she will be using my car and I will need to use the 1M as a daily for the next coming week, so no point in doing the engine or arches at this stage, but the wheels would be start point as I slapped on the standard wheels for now.

Products Used:

- Sonax Foam APC
- Steamer
- Blower
- MF Wash Mitt and various MF clothes
- Pressure Washer
- Sonax Lube and Clay
- Auto Finesse Iron Out
- BlackFire Gloss Enhancing Polish
- Wheel Wax

With the wheels off and no pre wash, I sprayed the surface area with Sonax APC to help soften loosen the grime and dirt, great product and spreads really well. PH Neutral so safe to use on the wheels

A proper rinse down to remove the dirt

Once it the wheels were risen I used a steamer at 25 C to get to corners / grime that was harder to get off

Washed down again

Then using Maxi Studs and the foam lance, the wheels were sprayed and left for a couple mins

Using a blower, most of the surface water was removed

MMM, looking good

Next up was to remove contamination, product for the job was...

Surprised to find there was too much contamination on the wheel, so if there was, it was removed!

Washed down again

Sonax Clay was used to further clean up the surface

Not much to report

Getting to the tighter spots

2 layers of BF Polish / 2 layers of Wheel Wax with 30 mins between each pass

End Result
