HI everyone.
So I had the idea after the Drive-in braai fell through, that we do a Bring and Braai at the Rietvlei Nature reserve! :excited:

The plan is to go there on Sunday, 29 April, the gates open at 06:00, and then we can do a game drive, take lots of pics, and meet up at the braai area at say 10:30-11:00, and enjoy a lekker visit and braai.

The roads in there are REALLY in GREAT condition and the main routes to drive are ALL cemented, and I have been there before with my BMW, and was able to drive through the reserve with no issues.

The reserve is pretty close to the R21, and they have GREAT facilities, and LOTS of animals to be viewed, even the famous "Weda Fakawi" bird... you know, a small bird that cant fly, that has to jump up and down to see over the tall grass and then it makes the sound: "We Da Fak A We? We Da Fak A We?"

...anyway, Below is all the details:

:pimp:
So what do you guys think?? I can't promise that it won't rain that day, but I can promise there won't be any afrikaans movies showing.

PS: If there is any info I might have forgotton, please tell me so I can rectify the post. Thanks :thumb:

Great idea.

I spent the easter weekend in the Karoo National Park and it was a fantastic drive. There were 4/4 routes that took more than 3 hours to complete...fantastic for group bonding.

Plenty game to view. Lions were also introduced into the park but we did not see them.

Coisman, i hope some guys join you :joy:

Thanks Twinz, I called them this afternoon, and asked about the cheetah's and Hyena's, if its safe to get out and braai, they said the animals are content, but scared of the humans.
I told them if a cheetah tries to steal my braaivleis I am going to "skiet die bliksem!" and make a seat cover for my bmw with its skin.

The braai area is somewhat seperated from the game. Unless ofcourse if you gonna braai near the coffee shop or bird watching area. What did you have in mind Francois? And dont forget you can bring your boat too :)

The lion park can viewed as well. Contact the coffee shop for details.

This sounds great! Will confirm in the week! Thought about taking the kids fishing after the braai.

Just saw their website - angling and braai area with toilet facilities. This sounds like a great outing...:=):

The number for the lion park tour is 0825004422.

I would also recommend some gazebos for some shade.
