Ok guys, so I've had a couple of queries about the route. Initially the route was going to be from N1 City, through town, across Camps Bay,past Hout Bay,over Chapman's Peak, through Noordhoek and on to the N2,through to Somerset West, along the R44 through Gordon's Bay and then hook up on to the R43 and head to Hermanus.
However, there are a couple of things we're going to need to take into account. Firstly, we are likely to be a relatively big convoy, which means getting on to Chapman's Peak is going to be quite lengthy, based on everyone stopping at the toll. The second thing is that at around 9am to 10am there are plenty of cyclists through Camps Bay and before, who,as car lovers and we all know this, tend to ride like they have 8ft wide bikes.
Third,it is a pretty long route, and will take some time. My suggestion is thus:
We meet at N1 as planned. From there we move out on the N2 towards Somerset West. At the bottom of Sir Lowry's Pass,we head out towards Gordon's Bay and the R44 and head along THAT route towards Hermanus. This will therefore allow us to miss the traffic in Camps Bay (along with the cyclists) as well as keep the convoy relatively close. We still get an awesome stretch of coastal road and we shouldn't be too hindered by time.
So this is one of the ideas I am considering. As always, all thoughts welcome:thumbs:
