Grant, can we get a headcount? I'm thinking that maybe we should find a spot to do a picnic of sorts as opposed to trying to squeeze everyone into a restaurant, numbers depending. The only thing that let us down for Franschoek was that the group go splintered cos they went in search of food and beverage.

There must be braai spots in or near Ceres. Will Google search it this weekend

Guys it would be great if we got a solid field of support. There is some focus on us (good focus!) from the greater BMW Club fraternity to see how we can build the brand and the club down here. A Franschoek style turn out will be fantastic for us planning events moving forward! Think we are going to try and start making them a bit more family orientated as well.

Carbon, maybe contact Ceres tourism. They would have the line on the best braai spots in the area. I think Pine Forest in the municipal camping/ braai area, lots of shade and IIRC they do day visitors. It is in the middle of town.

We've changed the route slightly coming back to Cape Town.... Instead of going via Malmesbury and the N7, we'll go via Willington: New Route

I'm gonna phone/search today for braai spots

I briefly considered recommending Bainkloof Pass as it is the most direct route back from Ceres... but I recalled once tryng to drive the pass in the MCoupe. The road is so bad from the Wellington side I turned around before getting half way up.

Ok, I've changed the route again. This route has a picnic spot (Point B), then to Gydo Pass (Point C, which we can leave out), then back home via Tulbagh.

The route is about 324km's from McD's back to McD's:

What if we do the Pass from the Ceres side? See my link above. Is it bad or is it bad from Wellington side?

I suppose if we were not going through the whole pass it would be OK, the road is still bad. Tweede Toll from the Wolsley side is not far into the pass (about 3km short of the placemark B). But having been to both I would say the Ceres Braai area would be 1st prize.

But I would keep options open and speak to each first.
