I honestly doubt even 10 people would want to pay R1000 for the day. If we can get a big group involved we should try and run it like the VW Track days. R50 or R100 entry fee and if you want to race it's an additional R500 or something like that?
It's going to have to be a balance between getting a big group involved to keep the costs low and not having too many people and too little time to let everyone run.

being too old to want to race, I would be keen on the "spectator" entry fee
