Red star is only for bikes

I saw on TV the other day that the Historic Cars or the those Lotus replicas will be racing there sometime.

It's not far about a 30 min drive from Boksburg on the N12 just past Delmas

How do track days work with insurance?

Best make sure with your insurance co. But I think if it is a competition/timed event, you will not be covered.

Yes you do need to confirm
Although if you flip your car off the track its unlikely the assessor will be asking you if you were being timed..
Last time I did this they bumped my excess for the day up by R10K

I am actually not how they have done cars before. Will have to find that out as well.

I honestly doubt even 10 people would want to pay R1000 for the day. If we can get a big group involved we should try and run it like the VW Track days. R50 or R100 entry fee and if you want to race it's an additional R500 or something like that?

It's going to have to be a balance between getting a big group involved to keep the costs low and not having too many people and too little time to let everyone run.

being too old to want to race, I would be keen on the "spectator" entry fee

only what this will happen is if people put money down up front once there are enough people then it will be easy to setup :)

Sorting the groups won't be a huge hurdle. You'll find fast drivers with slower cars passing faster cars with slow drivers. Like the VW day split it into 3 groups.

If you lie you'll only take fun away from yourself. I think organising timing equipment or people to keep times will be more of a concern.

I can come during a week day :) If it's going to cost half price vs double on a sunday.

Start off with the fanatics as GIZMO initially intended. If the numbers aren't there open it up on vw opel scooby club etc.

A couple of people just need to take charge (or nominated) to get things rolling.

Let's get some volunteers on who wants to take charge.

Cool thanks. The web site has been standing still for a few weeks now.
Will be getting back to it, quite time consuming.

Send 'em Bruce :)
