Track Sessions

Cars are grouped in 5 separate track sessions based on vehicle performance and in most cases driver skill where we know the guys.
Please stick to your session unless otherwise arranged, you will ruin other participants runs if you jump around the sessions.
A session board at the pit exit will indicate the currently running session and the marshals will not let you out if you go out in the incorrect session. You will have your session number on the top right of your windscreen, above the driver’s head.
Session 5, being the slowest session, will also host all the novice and first time drivers. It is advisable that novices take BMW Driver Trainers or other experienced drivers with them during their first run out.
Each session lasts 15 minutes with a maximum of 20 cars per session.
Cars are set off from the pit exit in 5 second intervals to ensure that you have a clean run and to ensure safety.
The Bridgestone hot lap car/s will primarily run in sessions 3-5. Please do not dive bomb or hassle these cars as they will be full of passengers.
Prize Classes

The table below describes each class and how vehicles will be group for trophies.
Forced Induced covers both turbo and supercharged vehicles.
Race/Track cars are purpose built cars for the track. Ie. Stripped out, roll cages, Perspex windows, etc…
Road/Street cars are cars that are driven to the track and can be used for daily road use. Semi slick tyres and suspension mods are permitted in this class.
We will enter into discussions and negotiations with regards to classes but the organiser’s decision is final.
It should be remembered at all times that we are here to have fun!

BMW Class C Naturally Aspirated Race/Track Car BMWs 3.0L and up
BMW Class D Naturally Aspirated Race/Track Car BMWs below 3.0L New Class!!!
BMW Class E Naturally Aspirated Road/Street Car BMWs 2.5L and up (excluding M Cars)
BMW Class M 6 Cylinder BMW M Cars
BMW Class V V8 & V10 M Cars

Driver Requirements:
2010 BMW Car Club Gauteng Membership, Membership Renewals
MSA competition Licence (REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR 2010 MSA LICECENCE CARD WITH YOU ON THE DAY. NO LICENCE = NO DRIVE
Track worthy vehicle
Crash helmet, long sleeved shirt, long pants and closed shoes
No Alcohol, small kids or pets

MSA Licences
MSA licence applications need to be submitted via the MSA Online Licencing System on http://www.msalicence.co.za. Apply for a 2010 MSA Club Licence under the category: CIRCUIT – MARQUE/FINE and Club: BMW Club of South Africa.
Proof of club membership is now also a requirement. You can upload / fax your welcome letter sent to you via email or a photocopy of your 2010 membership card.
Once online application has been successful you will be supplied with an online temporary licence, print the temporary licence and bring it to the track day as proof. Your official card licence will be posted to you by Motorsport SA.

Please note that the BMW Car Club Gauteng is not involved with the MSA Licencing. All applications and queries are to be addressed directly with Motorsport SA.

NB: If you aren’t yet a Club member or MSA licence holder please make sure you take care of this admin at least 1 week prior to the event. If not, participation cannot be guaranteed on the day.

November 2009 the BMW club Gauteng hosted a clubday at Kyalami.
I was there then and let me tell you it was a hell of allot of fun. Lucky for me my wife is into cars herself, and have even done the advanced driving course on Kyalami in a Mini Cooper S, so she has the papers to prove she can handle a car.
Also both my kids, two girls aged 10 and 12, love the whole car thing. So when we were there in November, Nissan was ther with 3 GT-R's and needless to say we all had a turn in it, treated to 2 laps around the track. As soon as I get the posting pictures sorted out I wll post some pics I took then.
I will also take allot of pics on the 25th, and post them as well.

How did you get into trouble from motorplan?

Dealerships are normally not to fond about it if you drive your car on a race track if it is still under motorplan, can lead to voiding your motorplan in most cases, I believe.
They assume a certain amount of risk when giving you a motorplan based on normal operating conditions of the vehicle, and driving on a track increases the risk of part failure meaning that they might have to replace certain part more often.
Just my assumptions in this matter, no idea what exactly happend in this specific case.

I think some motorplans probably do cover trackdays and so on, like the motorplan of a M3 GTS (if it comes with a motorplan) as it was designed as a track car.

also booking the car in after only 7000km for brakes might have given them a clue.
Or maybe someone from the dealership saw me there, all I know is when I got there the monday to make a booking, I was in trouble...
but at least they didn't cancel my motorplan, my friend drives a E46 m3, and his was cancelled also. They can reinstate it, only after you pay for all the service parts, and the car passes an inspection, but that also costs, and there is no garentee that they will reinstate.
that is why I sometimes wish I was a rich boy, to buy, and enjoy, and not have to worry about motorplan, or if the car breaks.
It will just be like, "Daddy, I need a Million to buy a car?"
and there you go, new M3 with full turbo kit.

A motorplan is a lot like insurance that takes into consideration your risk profile, but in the case a motorplan the profile is just set and you as the owner have to make sure that fit to that profile.

Just a quick question: Who is taking helmets for sunday cause it seems you have to have your own to go on the track whether passenger or driver it doesn't matter.:mmm:
Oh and i guess a bike helmet is fine right?
