Hey guys, was talking too my cousin and he says "BMW's are much slower than modified gti's and audi 2L turbo"me being a hardcore BMW guy thinks this is nonsense,he drives a 2litre turbo modified Audi and says that BMW(325,328,330etc)have no chance against him, although when I called him when I had a modified 325i he didn't come lol, what are your opinions guys?

A 2 L turbo modded Audi, with a remap, intake, exhaust, dp, and the other common mods on those cars will sadly kill a modded E90 325i or 330i.

There's not much room for big gains on the N52

That's just my view :=):

Turbo cars like the GTI can make lazy power easily by means of software, downpipe etc. Some even go for the K04 setup.

Even in stock form they have an edge over N/A BMW's especially cos of altitude in JHB.

What I would like to see is a stock GTI against a stock F30 328.

I say 328 FTW:thumbs:

G7 GTI should be put against the F20 125i as they are a fair match in my opinion.. I'm with the opinions here - modded 2.0Ts are dangerous... Unless u got a x35

Just as an indication, my F30 328i was ahead of my brothers E90 330d LCI :=):

Ahhhhh, but not by much.:nonono:

They being said...
That 328i is a fantastic car. If not for the fact that I am a die hard diesel head
That would be my car of choice.

Don't take what your cousin says to your heart!!

BMW = character. Most important factor in a car. (For me)

Others (that you referred to) = characterless.

Story over /

The fundamental flaw in your friends point is that he is judging an entire car on one aspect only, that is straight line performance. That goes to show what a limited unerstanding he has of what a performance car entails.

The complete package is what makes a car, not just straight line acceleration. :nonono: And the Golf is a hot hatch and the 3-series is a sedan. Two totally different types of cars. I can tell you one thing, the Golf will never sound like the inline 6 found in a 325i or 328i or 330i.

I've had the 5&6 GTi, it's a great all round package, just found the designers a bit lazy. On paper new 7 not much more powerful and GTis have become so common, so I finally made the change to BMW, nothing like a F30 3.0 twin turbo, for me at the moment, it sounds great and love driving it.

My opinion you want a really nice hot hatch, RS3 if you can get your hands on one. Amazing car!

Agree with above compare hatches with hatches and not sedans,
Maybe I should dice a 116 with my Hilux cause its chipped!!!!!

all the 2.0L T cars ranges wich includes all the hot hatches always compete with the older NA BMW's

And there claim to fame was to bench mark against the BMW 325i/328i/330i and of course the M3 because they are the business! You never heard a BMW 330i/M3 saying my bench mark is a GTI lol

Ive always heard guys going WOW i just beat a M3, while spending 50k to make his GTi "just" beat an M3 lol (and a stock M)

BMW with the newer range of motors have now layed down the law on the other car manufacturers with the turbo motors, giving hidings all over the place!

look at the F30/F20 125i vs the G7 Gti, the GTi gets a spanking!

i have been a a few dyno days and yes there are some very strong K04 GTi/S3's out there pushing 260wkw with around 550nm, but can you imagine how much cash they spent on that car to get that and that poor 2.0L motor is at its limits.

Then you get the guys coming with the M135i/135i and 335i with just some software DP and exhaust pushing out the same power and sometimes even more!

No thanks i will stay with my BMW as she is a gem and there is nothing like that 3.0L T sound at full throttle!
