So, what make the Cayman "not a real Porsche" ?

:roflol:

Strange thing is, that its made by Porsche

Designed by Porsche, built by Porsche, marketed and sold by Porsche, serviced and maintained by Porsche, cant be a real Porsche !

:hammerhead:

I would take the m2 just seems to be more hype around the M2. I would prefer a 3l motor if I am going to fork out 870k on a car

Im still questioning the R300k premium over the m235i.

I've driven the previous generation Boxster/Cayman S, and it's not significantly far away from a 911 when compared to the mk1 boxster/cayman. Those were cr@p.
I'd always take a mid engine Porsche over a put-together little M.

If you could get your name on the list and actually pay sub-900k for the M2, then it makes a compelling argument.

With things as they are though *foche*cough* its really difficult to justify that premium as others have mentioned.

Apples for apples, i'd go with the not-a-real-but-sold-by-porsche Porsche

Can I tell you what is happening here... You know how VW likes to claim wheel Kw on their Turbo cars instead of fly kw... I bet you that porsche puts down 257wkw. That thing flies!

Most times, those looking for an M2 or Boxster wouldn't be looking at an M5.

That Boxster is a beaut of a car. Definitely gets my vote.

i am not sure how you can compare a 4 seater coupe to a 2 seater convertible, unless you doing a trump car style comparison with hp, 0-100km/h stats etc.

suppose it all comes down to what you after, talks to the soul and puts a grin on your face.

If it was my every day drive id take the M2.
If it was my weekend drive where id take the car to a pass outside the city, and enjoy the precision and balance of the car then id take the Porsche.
Don't get me wrong, not saying the M2 wont have that, but i just see the Porsche as more of a polished, refined, precise driving tool.

Either or, cant wait to see either in action :praise:

Hahaha, I meant in no way to offend anyone. It's an old, standing joke re the Boxter.

If given the choice I would take the M2 purely because it offers more bang for buck. The options list on Porche's are incredibly long and steeply priced. I would also think that the M2 is more of a driver's car while the Boxter offers a decent entry point into the world of Porche, offering a car that's sporty but also easy enough to live with as a daily drive.

That being said there are some compelling other options in that price range that I would consider above either the Beemer or the Porkie.

:withStu: I find it hard to understand the huge extra cost on the M2.

Yeah. Its been the sentiment amongst alot of guys. The purest will however insist that nothing beats owning a true ///M car.

Porsche's hold their value exceptionally well as well, and over the longer term you would probably lose very very little.

Howcome you think the M2 is more of a drivers car than the Boxster?

I find myself lusting after the M2 moreso than the 718 Boxster/Cayman. I'm not completely sold on Porsche's move to 4cyl boxer motors just yet.
