You mean the 718 Cayman (not the S)?

The 718 Boxter S starts at R1,000 000 (with R3000 change).

No, the 718 Boxster S. According to News24 price R870k

Sounds like Porsche paid them to advertise this, at the basic base price of 870k before VAT, before this, before that what what....

What a hard choice, i would go for the M2 because its an M2 lol, but more so because we will have a limited number of them, however, i love Porsche and faced with this situation in reality, i really dont know what i would do :YesNo:

I wonder why they didnt use the 5cylinder 2.5 from the Audi stable. Probably cooling issues with it being MR.

there are 2 main differences:

M2 has more (slightly) bang for buck.

Porsche looks better(subjective), and is more exclusive.

Hope that makes your choice easier.

A boxter is not a "real" Porche.

Small, 2 seater sports car with a flat 4 engine in the rear?

Doesn't sound like a Porsche at all...

Interesting comments chaps....

Having had the pleasure of driving a Boxster S model prior to this new one, I can tell you they are just as real a Porsche as any others I have driven - and bang for buck they are awesome. They handle fantastically and are a pleasure to tootle around in as well as thrash. I cant speak for the new motor but the 3.4 six was no slouch up here in GP, and when you hit the sport button it tightens up all round and gave awesome exhaust notes. I would say it very much depends on what you are looking for, bearing in mind one has 4 seats and the other is a 2 seater drop top!

I was also totally amazed at consumption on the 3.4 version with a trip to Southbroom in December, cruising at 120 - 130 and adhering to stupid 80kmh zones it returned 6.7l/100km!!! not bad for a 6 cylinder N/A sports car that easily gets to 250km/h.

Some snips from "car Connection"
Porsche’s Boxster is, and continues to be, one of the most utterly joyful cars to drive in Porsche’s lineup—and in the whole car world. Among a list of models that includes the Cayman and 911, that makes the Boxster a true standout, and while it’s not exactly cheap, it is one of the best sports car performance values on the market.

Entirely u to you as to what you are looking for in my view......

Thanks for the insight Graan13.
Always nice to hear from someone, who has had actual experience of a car in discussion.

:ty:
Like I say, cant speak for the new motor, my experience was last years version 3.4 6 but I dont think Porsche would make a "lessor" car/motor
