BMWFanatics as a club/social media network, will not be represented as such at this BMW fest, we have not been invited as such, but only on an individual member basis (I assume to boost participant numbers in the interest of the organisers).

It would appear that this festival has been setup with very limited foresight and clearly with no benefit to the various BMW clubs.

Lets put this to rest already: Yes... the BMW clubs should have been involved a little more, but so what?? A few people have taken a chance to organize this so we people from cape might end up with a yearly BMW Festival. I've even posted on some classic car forums. If we support it in anyway we can, it will only get better. This year the goal is to get the event off the ground, next year will be better

Oh, and the people with BMWFanatics license plates should put them on for that day

I for one can't wait :excited:. I just wish I had a car that can go round the track :mmm: maybe next time. I will however be showing off my 19 year E30 to the fullest :)

EDIT: I assume BMW Bikes are also welcome?? I'll PM shiraz.

Every BMW is invited even the forum. Fanatics has been allocated space, in fact any BMW is.

I wasnt involved with the organizing but was asked on Sun 28 Feb, to pass on the flyer to alert people about the event.

They didnt have a set date until last minute, which they only found out a month ago for this date (21 March). So they couldnt do any advertising until a confirmed date was set. Thats why we only got the info last week with short notice.

I'm still going to the event, the negativity that I've read here and on other sites and email AINT gonna stop me from attending or informing friends to attend. We should still support/attend the event

So we will have allocated space for how many cars? And it would have been nice to be able to organize some sort of booth or stage or something to actually promote the club... Do we have something like fryers to hand out or have for the people to take? Now there is 2weeks left and that is very little time to organize something from our side, so this forces us to give it our second best... That's not cool.

I will really try and make it, never said I will not go, I love BMW's as much as the next fanatic, cant think of this to be a festival and maybe more like a "BMW Day".

Hopefully in the future there will be better understanding of what a festival means, not a simple thing.

Good luck to the organizing and hope to see a lot of fanatics there.

I wish I had time to make her shine, I have a wedding at Moorreesburg the day before, and I am best man, so no early night for me... My roof liner is still upside down in my garage, waiting for special spray, so hopefully I will be able to at least give her a bath before I come through, o and she desperately needs a polish...:)

Okay guys, thx for responding and helping to clarify what happened or did not happen; whether positive or negative.

My suggestion is that we proceed with the meeting between Rohan, Paul, Shiraz and myself this coming week. I sent an email to Paul, urging him to meet with us, preferably this coming Tuesday.
Anyway, these seem to be the options and I hope we can find a way through the maze on Tuesday.

So Twinz / Rohan / Zaki do you have any feedback for us from your meeting with these okes?

I was wondering if there is any specific place all BMW should park at killarney? I assume that grass bit that you need to go under the tunnel to get to?

Everyone

I herewith summarise the official positions of the Exclusively///M Club and BMWfanatics.co.za as relayed to me:

Exclusively///M Club
1. The executive of the Club decided unanimously not to participate in the BMW Festival to be held 21 March 2010. However, the Club will not restrain it's members from attending in their personal capacities.

BMWfanatics.co.za
2. BMWFanatics as a club/social media network, will not be represented as such at this BMW fest (21 March 2010), we have not been invited as such, but only on an individual member basis.

................................................................................................

So the above are the official positions and we wish the organisers of the 21 March 2010 BMW Festival all success.

.................................................................................................

Now that the anouncements are out of the way, let me reiterate an issue which I explained in my rather lengthy reply to Shiraz.

The Exclusively///M Club and BMWfanatics.co.za had been debating and planning a BMW festival for more than a year and will continue its planning irrespective of what happens at the 21 March 2010 event.

I am not at liberty to divulge confidential information on this forum about these major plans on the cards, but I can confirm that it will be rolled out as envisaged for 2010 and 2011. Forum members and BMW club stakeholders & sponsors will be approached, informed and consulted (where appropriate) of these developments as they unfold.
